Japanese tissue aims at high-end products in Chinese market

Japanese paper companies are increasing production to meet the demand for toilet paper and other household paper in China. Japan’s largest paper company Prince paper will launch local production in China in 2020. Dawang paper increased domestic production capacity by 10%, mainly for the Chinese market. Avoid competition with local manufacturers by focusing on “high-end” price products such as three layers of overlapping toilet paper.
According to reports, Prince paper plans to build six toilet paper machines in Jiangsu, with a total annual capacity of 360000 tons, including two Andritz paper machines in the first phase, with a capacity of 120000 tons, which is planned to be put into production around June 2020. Most of the products will be supplied to local manufacturers in China.
Before 2021, Dawang paper will invest 20 billion yen in the kawajijiang factory and Keer factory of Japan to strengthen the production and processing equipment of household paper. The aim is to expand exports to China. The company will produce tissue and toilet paper base paper at its chuanzhijiang plant, which will be processed into products by local legal persons based in China.
