Abu Dhabi prohibits the export of scrap iron, paper and cardboard boxes

According to the decision of the Ministry of economy of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi will prohibit the export of scrap iron, waste paper and cardboard boxes from the relevant industries from May 15, and the validity of the temporary ban can be extended for 4 months.
The decision aims to support and protect the local industry, reduce the import cost of related raw materials and improve the self-sufficiency rate of related industries.
In 2019, Abu Dhabi exported 6163 tons of waste iron, a year-on-year increase of 287.6%, while Abu Dhabi exported 29530 tons of waste paper, a year-on-year increase of 1224.2%.
