According to the latest statement by the official spokesman of Irkutsk state government and local media reports, one of Russia’s largest pulp and paperboard projects will be officially put into operation in the city of ulinmsk in 2023.
The project is invested by Ilim group, Russia’s largest pulp and paper enterprise, with a total investment of more than US $1 billion. After completion, it is estimated that the paperboard production capacity will reach 600000 tons / year, which will provide momentum for the economic development of northern Russia and create more than 850 new jobs.
Zakhar smushkin, chairman of Ilim group, said the project will increase the company’s total production capacity to 4.5 million tons per year and rank among the world’s largest non bleached paper packaging manufacturers, with a total output of 1.5 million tons per year.
