Brazil’s bracell Star project will start in August this year. According to Andritz, the equipment supplier, the two flexible switchable environmental protection hardwood pulp lines of the pulp plant will bring 2.6 ~ 2.8 million tons / year bleached kraft pulp or 1.5 million tons / year dissolved pulp capacity. It is planned to be put into operation in mid August 2021, with a total annual capacity of 3 million tons.
Star project is an expansion project launched by bracell, one of the world’s largest producers of dissolved pulp and special pulp, at the end of July 2019. It is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. At that time, the investment was as high as 7 billion reais (now about 8.7 billion yuan), and another 1 billion reais (now about 1.2 billion yuan) was invested in January 2020. The project is the largest private investment in Sao Paulo in recent 20 years. The project has attracted much attention because of its sustainable genes, advanced technology, completely fossil fuel free operation and the use of renewable raw materials to produce biodegradable products.
Pedro Stefanini, general manager of bracellsp, said: “the project is equipped with the world’s largest and cleanest alkali furnace and the most advanced technology not yet used in the industrial field in the region, representing the future development trend of biotechnology.”
