Suzano’s pulp sales volume reached 2.66 million tons in the second quarter

According to the latest financial report released by Suzano, a Brazilian pulp and paper company, in the second quarter of this year, the company’s pulp sales reached 2.663 million tons, up 5% year-on-year and 12% month on month.

Suzano said that in the second quarter of this year, the market continued to show a strong demand trend. At the same time, various unexpected factors and logistics restrictions affected the pulp supply, and the price of broadleaf pulp continued to rise.

In terms of demand, the domestic paper, printing and writing paper markets in Europe and North America are still stable, and the demand for pulp is strong.

In terms of supply, due to the impact of the planned centralized shutdown in the northern hemisphere, and the superposition of some unplanned outages, the global market is short of pulp supply. In addition, a series of land and sea transportation problems still exist, which aggravates the global imbalance between supply and demand.

Against this background, the average price of broad-leaved pulp pix / Foex in the Chinese market increased by 25% in the second quarter, and that in the European market increased by 8%.

Suzano said that the continuous price difference between coniferous and broad-leaved pulp also stimulated the important trend of fiber substitution. According to pix / Foex data, the price difference of coniferous and broad-leaved pulp at the end of the second quarter was US $134 / T in Europe and US $181 / T in China.

In the second quarter of this year, the average net price of pulp sold by Suzano was 726 US dollars / ton, an increase of 13% month on month. The average net price of pulp for overseas markets was US $732 / T, up 15% month on month.
