According to foreign media reports, Sonoco recently announced that it would increase the price of uncoated recycled paperboard (urb) of all grades by US $60 per ton in the United States and Canada. The price increase will take effect from the date of shipment on November 1, 2021.
Sonoco said the price increase was a response to continued inflationary pressure on manufacturing costs, including energy, freight, chemicals and packaging materials. Tim Davis, vice president and general manager of North American paper sector, said: “when we enter the last quarter of 2021, the inflation of input costs has not weakened, and we expect these cost pressures to continue until 2022.” “despite the current strong market demand and supply challenges, we are still committed to providing the highest level of quality and service to many loyal customers.”
