Smurfit Kappa recently announced that it will invest 24 million euros to expand its corrugated plant in rethel, northeast France, to install the most advanced corrugated machines, processing equipment and modernize the plant, including an 8200 square meter new high-tech corrugated machine plant.
The investment will reduce the carbon emissions of the plant, which is estimated to be about 150 tons per year. The overall investment project is expected to be completed in 2023.
Smurfit Kappa’s recent investment expansion is rapid. In addition to France in Western Europe mentioned above, its expansion footprint also includes Germany and Slovakia in Central Europe, Spain in southern Europe, Czech Republic in Eastern Europe and Peru in America.

On June 4, Smurfit Kappa announced that it had completed the acquisition of its Peruvian corrugated packaging company cartones del Pacifico, which means Smurfit Kappa’s footprint in the Americas has expanded to 13 countries / regions. On the same day, it also announced that it would pay its German Z ü Lpich paper mill has invested 11.5 million euros in a fuel conversion project aimed at carbon reduction.
On May 25, Smurfit Kappa announced that it will spend 20 million euros to expand its production capacity in four factories in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and it is expected to increase the production capacity of 100 million conventional and offset boxes.
