The employee, Abdel Hannan, is 54 years old. According to Hannan’s family, Hannan worked for a paper machine company. He has been suffering from diabetes and hypertension in the past few months. After his death, he left his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Masumd, Secretary General of the workers and employees union of Cachar paper mill, claimed that Hannan died because he could not afford the treatment because he, like all other employees of the mill, had not been paid in the past five and a half years.

According to the report, two paper mills of Hindustan paper company, Cachar paper mill and nagaon paper mill, were closed in October 2015 and March 2017 respectively. Since then, more than 1200 employees in these factories have not been paid. Union officials estimate that more than 400000 people have been directly or indirectly affected by the closure of the once boasted “Asia’s largest factory.”.
PTI said the BJP government had promised to restore paper mills after it came to power in 2016. They made a similar commitment in the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
However, after several rounds of meetings with all stakeholders, the national company law court of India (NCLT) ordered on April 26 that the liquidator would sell the entire Hindustan paper company (HPC) in accordance with the decision of the national company law appeals court (nclat).
