It is clearly stipulated that the upper limit of impurity content of waste paper imported from Indonesia is 2%

On July 16, the American waste recycling industry association said that Indonesia had set the upper limit of impurity content of imported recyclable materials, including waste paper, at 2%, and the Indonesian government department had informed the US embassy.

As early as 2019, the Indonesian government once set the impurity threshold at 2%, and then transitioned to 0.5% two years later, but soon decided to postpone the implementation. Since then, Indonesia’s requirements for impurity content of imported waste paper have not been clearly specified.

Therefore, representatives of the American waste recycling industry association have been meeting with representatives of the local government of Indonesia for the past two years in order to solve the problem of the upper limit of impurity content in Indonesia.

According to the regulations to be implemented soon, Indonesia only allows the pre imported recyclable articles that meet the requirements to be shipped directly from the supplier country to Indonesia, and the exporters must be listed in the documents for random inspection at any time.

According to the American waste recycling industry association, the Indonesian government may be considering banning broker shipments so that materials can only be purchased or exported from processors.
