In 2020, the output of paper and paperboard in Russia will increase by about 4.5% year on year

According to the latest data provided by rosstat, in the first 11 months of 2020, Russia’s pulp production increased by 6.7% year-on-year, and is still growing.

According to rosstat data, during the reporting period, the total output of Russian wood pulp and other fiber materials pulp reached 8 million tons.

Despite the negative impact of the epidemic on the economy, Russian pulp and paper production has increased, and analysts expect this growth to continue in the first half of 2021.

In terms of paper and paperboard production, from January to November, the output of paper and paperboard increased by 4.5% year-on-year to 8.7 million tons, while the output of packaging cartons made of corrugated paper or paperboard increased by 3.2% to 5.6 billion square meters.

Analysts expect the growth rate of Russian market in 2021 to be much higher than that in 2020, with the continuous growth of Russian pulp and paper demand.

In addition, in recent years, Russian paper enterprises have made significant progress in reducing the impact on the ecosystem. In 2019, the emission of harmful substances from domestic pulp and paper enterprises is 96900 tons, which is significantly better than that from food sector (207600 tons) and oil and gas sector (nearly 2.4 million tons). Although the results for 2020 have not yet been released, according to some local analysts, environmental benefits will be better than those in 2019.

In recent years, the Russian paper industry has made a series of progress mainly due to the industry’s substantial increase in investment in ecosystem and various ecological and environmental protection technologies. For example, svetogorsk ppm, Russia’s leading pulp and paper producer, has invested more than US $20 million in environmental protection projects in the past three years. As Oleg rybnikov, the plant’s executive director, was accepting Russian rossyiskaya Gazetasha Business Daily said in an interview that the company attaches great importance to water treatment, air purification (due to the transformation of the recovery boiler equipment), as well as the reduction of wastewater discharge and industrial noise. In recent years, Russia’s major pulp and paper enterprises are committed to optimizing and upgrading environmental protection facilities and improving environmental protection level.
