01. Janmarcentrum built a second corrugated packaging factory with an annual output of 150million square meters of cartons
Janmarcentrum, a Polish corrugated packaging manufacturer based in trzcinica, is starting to build a second plant. The new site is being built in strikov, the Special Economic Zone in central Poland. Since its inception in 2000, the company has been recognized in many industries in Poland and Europe, including the electrical engineering, automotive, food, furniture and chemical industries. Currently, janmarcentrum can process more than 150 million square meters of corrugated board every year, with 214 employees.
The investment in the new plant will be divided into two phases. The first phase will cover the installation of the first processing line. One of these will be the bgmjumbo linkage line in the 4.8 meter format. It will allow janmarcentrum to further expand the product range of large format packaging. The next phase is to install more processing lines and invest in automated warehouses for finished products. Once these stages are completed, the factory will be able to produce various corrugated packaging, with an annual capacity of 150 million square meters of corrugated cartons.
The new plant will operate at the highest standards, taking into account environmental issues, and the internal automatic material handling system and state-of-the-art peripheral equipment will ensure the comfort and safety of employees. Janmarcentrum plans to invest around 30 million euros in the new plant and employ more than 50 employees.
Janmarcentrum’s second plant will operate in the packaging park model. It will be built near the new pw14 of progroup. Following the success of Poland’s first packaging Park, which opened in trzcinica in january2017, the two companies decided to continue their cooperation in this area. It combines professional packaging production with high-performance corrugated box production without any logistical problems. The start-up date for the new janmarcentrum plant and the second packaging park is scheduled to be in the third quarter of 2022.
“I am confident that the decision to establish a second plant will further consolidate our position in the market,” said Maxin Gartner, CEO and owner of the company. “Investing in new locations will allow us to be closer to customers from other parts of the country, and proximity to progroup will enable us to focus on packaging production. The current difficult market situation shows that only companies with strong status and stable resource base can become reliable partners of their customers. “
02. Thimm expansion of Czech plant
Thimm has made a comprehensive investment to further develop its v š Czech production plant in etaty. The core of the expansion is the installation of new and most advanced tile lines. The machine has been commissioned at the beginning of the year. The working scope of tile line provided by BHS is 2.8m and the running speed is 400m per minute. The installation of the new machine means that thimm has increased its corrugated board production capacity by 30 per cent in its Czech plant. The new corrugated machine can process e, B, C, F and t-corrugated, and EE, EB, BC and Fe five layers of cardboard.
Michael Weber, director of corporate strategy and marketing at thimm group, said: “the new tile line is equipped with the equipment to best handle digital preprint paper rolls and therefore is suitable for large and small printing. This enables us to better meet the customer’s requirements for smaller orders and shorter delivery times. Modern machines also have their own quality monitoring system. By buying new tiles, we will further expand the future viability of our already positioned Czech plant. “
The sustainability of the new tile line is also impressive, as compared with previous machines, energy consumption per square meter of production is reduced by 15 per cent. With the installation of new tile line, thimm has modernized and expanded its surrounding, including new temporary storage facilities, new glue making system and new larger paper storage facilities. Prior to installation, the workshop was also expanded and a new electric forklift was purchased. The company’s total investment in the base is 10 million euros.
The investment also brings new opportunities and challenges to the employees on site. “Debugging such complex and modern systems is an attractive and exciting task for the production team,” Weber concluded. Team work, together with the support of our other packaging plants, ensures the smooth progress of the project. “
03. DSsmith doubled R & D expenditure
DSsmith has launched a £ 100m R & D and innovation program to speed up its work in the circular economy. New investments over the past five years include the establishment of new breakthrough technology centres in the UK, the development of new materials for alternative plastics, and the evaluation of pilot gravity shocks in delivery door-to-door packaging.
The increased investment supports the company’s new circular economy led sustainable development strategy, which promises to provide 100% recycled packaging to all customers within two years and replace one billion supermarkets and e-commerce plastics by 2025. The R & D plan consists of three projects.
New materials: accelerate investment in new material development, including new fully recyclable translucent packaging to replace plastic windows in sandwiches and ready to eat food packaging, and new research on alternative natural fibers; Expand its barrier technology, such as the recent pilot “touchguard” (a packaging coating that can resist virus transmission); The application of science to fiber: to analyze the different fibers in recycled paper and corrugated paper in order to optimize its strength, resilience and recyclability.
Waste design: the real world analysis of e-commerce delivery door-to-door supply chain, including measuring the influence of gravity on the package in transportation to reduce waste and prevent package damage; Strengthen the new experiment of natural paper fiber to optimize the material in the design and manufacture of cartons. The new technology can remove excess fibers from packaging, while improving its overall strength and elasticity; In collaboration with ellenmarthurfoundation, 700 DSsmith designers have been trained in circular design, so all customers can use recyclable packaging and services.
New sample Acceleration Center: a new prototype design and testing agency “unit17″ has been established in the UK to develop breakthrough innovative products. The new facility will accelerate the development of next generation technology and will work with 50 innovation centers and R & D partners of the group.
“Because of many factors, our lifestyle is changing rapidly, so it is a priority for all of us to protect the environment,” said Myers Roberts, chief executive of DSsmith. Now, we will invest more than we have in the previous years to ensure that we lead the change and be able to provide customers with less environmentally sensitive packaging. We will continue to work to reduce the impact of operations on the environment, but it is important that we can contribute to a wider society by providing circular packaging solutions and supporting our customers’ transition to the circular economy. “
