According to the Nikkei news report, the export volume of corrugated base paper in Japan is growing rapidly. In the first five months of this year, the actual export volume reached 300000 tons, a record high in the same period of history. The expansion of China’s online shopping market has boosted Japan’s export. Another factor is that Japan’s booming demand for corrugated paper has temporarily stopped. Due to the adjustment of supply and demand, paper enterprises have exported base paper one after another.
According to the statistics of the Japan paper making Federation, the export volume in May was 52000 tons, more than twice that of the same period last year, and has been increasing year on year for six consecutive months. From January to may, the year-on-year increase was 90% to 300000 tons, nearly 40% higher than the same period in 2018, which had previously set the highest record from January to May. It is estimated that the export volume in June will also exceed 50000 tons, higher than that in May.
The main export regions of corrugated base paper in Japan are China and Southeast Asia. Especially for China, the export volume from January to may exceeded 6 times of the same period in 2019, reaching 87000 tons, accounting for 30% of the total export volume.
