1、 Industrial chain structure
The materials for making diapers usually include non-woven fabric, toilet paper, high absorption core layer (absorbent resin and fluff pulp), bottom film (PE film), rubber band, adhesive tape (front + left and right), waist elastic belt, etc. Among them, super absorbent resin is an excellent material for making diaper, which is made of starch and acrylic acid salt as the main raw materials; the outstanding feature is that the water absorption and storage capacity is amazing.
Although the styles of diapers on the market are exquisite, the basic structure is similar. Generally speaking, diapers can be divided into four parts from top to bottom: surface coating layer, diversion layer, absorption core layer and bottom layer, and the absorption core layer is the most important part.
2、 Production and marketing status
Japan is one of the most important diaper markets in the world. With the serious aging of Japan, there will be more and more room for the development of adult diapers in Japan. From 2014 to 2019, the population aged 65 and above will increase year by year, while the population aged 0-14 will show a downward trend. In 2019, the number of people aged 0-14 in Japan will be 15.8753 million, and the population aged 65 and above will reach 35.3568 million.
The data shows that: in 2018, the sales revenue of Japanese diapers was 380.225 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5%; in 2019, the sales revenue of Japanese diapers was 379.405 billion yen, which was 820 million yen lower than that in 2018, with a year-on-year decrease of 0.22%.
The total production volume of diapers decreased from 22.59 billion in 2018 to 2.59 billion in Japan compared with that in 2018, and the average production volume of diapers decreased by 2.571 billion compared with that in 2018 in Japan.
Japan’s diapers are mainly divided into adult diapers and infant diapers. In recent years, Japan’s adult diapers output has increased year by year, while infant diapers have shown a downward trend. In 2019, Japan produced 8.655 billion adult diapers and 14.254 billion infant diapers.
As the aging of Japan is becoming more and more serious, the sales of diapers for adults are increasing year by year. On the contrary, the sales of diapers for infants and young children are on the decline due to the decline of the new population.
In 2019, the sales volume of adult diapers in Japan is 9.074 billion pieces, an increase of 336 million pieces compared with that in 2018; the sales volume of infant diapers is 14.496 billion pieces, which is 561 million pieces less than that in 2018.
In 2019, the sales of adult diapers in Japan accounted for 38.50% of the total sales of diapers, and the sales of infant diapers accounted for 61.50% of the total sales of diapers. It is expected that the proportion of adult diapers sales in Japan will further increase in the future.
Japan’s diaper inventory showed an upward trend from 2016 to 2018, and decreased in 2019. The Japanese diaper inventory in 2019 was 1.154 billion pieces, which was 207 million pieces less than that in 2018.
