A large portion of species engage in homosexual activity as females are not fertile all year round, and in some species they prefer it, only straying when the females are ready to reproduce. In many others, especially birds, the younger members never mate and instead help take care of the older siblings offspring, and those offspring turn out a lot better than if everyone were to have kids and raise them themselves. Birds are descendents of dinosaurs and have been around for more then 250 million years, who are we to criticize that?
