Restrict the import of “foreign garbage” Indonesia returns 5 containers of garbage

Indonesian officials said on July 30 that the country had returned seven illegal shipping containers full of waste to France and Hong Kong, China. Customs officials in (BatamIsland), Bahatan Island, Indonesia, said the containers contained mixed waste, plastic waste, harmful substances and so on, violating the country’s garbage import rules, Agence France-Presse reported. On Monday, ships carrying seven containers of garbage left Indonesia under the supervision of Indonesian officials, five of which were returned to Hong Kong, China, and two to France. Indonesian authorities say another 42 containers full of garbage are waiting for customs clearance, including garbage from the United States, Australia and Germany. Southeast Asian countries have tightened garbage import standards this year, and garbage containers are expected to be returned to Hong Kong more and more.
